gyotaku for Android
Report a problem or ask a question
Open an issue at github.com/zamansheikh/gyotaku-android/issues. It helps to say your phone, its Android version and the app's version, which is on the About page in the app.
This is an unofficial community app. Please do not report Android problems to the gyotaku desktop project.
A screenshot does not show up in search
- Check that its folder is turned on. Screenshot folders are on to begin with; others are off until you choose them.
- Reading may not have reached it yet. The app and its notification show how far it has got.
- Text recognition is not perfect. Small, stylised or low contrast text can be misread.
Bangla or Hindi text is not found
Turn on Read Bengali or Read Devanagari in settings. The reader downloads once, then goes back over your screenshots. That takes a few seconds for each one, so a large library takes hours. Your screenshots stay searchable by their other text while it runs.
One known problem: with only Read Bengali on, Hindi text is read as Bangla. Turning on Read Devanagari as well fixes it.
Reading stops when I leave the app
It should carry on, with its progress in a notification. If you refused the notification permission, allow it in the phone's settings for gyotaku. Reading can also be paused, from the notification or from the app; check that it is not paused.
Deleting what gyotaku has stored
The search index is kept only in the app's private storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in the phone's settings, deletes all of it. Your images are never changed, moved or deleted.
Does gyotaku take screenshots?
No. It reads the ones your phone already saves.
