I deleted a photo by mistake
On Android 11 and newer, photos deleted from the review bin go to your phone’s trash and stay there for 30 days. Open your gallery app (Google Photos, Samsung Gallery and so on) or the Files app, find Trash or Bin, and restore the photo.
On Android 10 and older there is no trash, so a delete is permanent; the app says so and asks first. Files removed in Storage cleanup are permanent on every version.
A photo I swiped left is still on my phone
That is how it is meant to work. Swiping left only puts the photo in the app’s review bin. Open the bin (the trash can at the top of the screen), then tap Delete to remove everything in it.
I want to change a decision
- The last swipe: tap Undo.
- Something in the bin: open the bin and tap the photo to keep it.
- A whole month or deck: long-press it on the home screen and choose Review again.
- Everything: open the ⋯ menu on the home screen and choose Start over. This forgets your decisions; it deletes nothing.
The app can’t see all my photos
If you chose “Allow limited access” when the app first asked, it only sees the photos you picked. Open the ⋯ menu and choose Choose more photos, or go to Android Settings → Apps → GalleryShift → Permissions → Photos and videos and choose Always allow all.
Storage cleanup asks for “All files access”
Junk files, old installers and empty folders are not part of your photo library, and Android only lets an app find them with this access. Tap Open settings, turn on Allow access to manage all files, and go back. You can turn it off again in the same place. The rest of the app works without it.
“Freed” is higher than the space I got back
On Android 11 and newer, deleted photos keep taking up space in your phone’s trash until it empties after 30 days. To get the space back sooner, open Storage cleanup and clean Trash leftovers, or empty the trash in your gallery app.
Removing the app’s data
Uninstalling GalleryShift removes everything it stored. The app has no account and keeps nothing anywhere else. See the privacy policy.
