1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the NU Result mobile application (the "App") handles information. The App helps National University (Bangladesh) students check published examination results, calculate CGPA, generate marksheets, read university notices, and view a student profile.

2. Information We Handle

2.1 Information you enter

To check a result or view a profile, you may enter details such as your examination roll number, registration number, examination year, and course/exam type. This information is sent to National University's official systems (through our backend service, described in Section 4) only to retrieve the result, profile or notice you requested. We do not ask for your name, password, payment details, contacts, photos, or precise location.

2.2 Information stored on your device

Data you create or choose to save stays on your device, including:

• Grades and credits you enter into the CGPA calculator;
• Marksheet PDFs you generate;
• If you use the optional Student Login, your student profile (such as name, college, session and subject) is cached locally so it can be shown in the app menu.

You can remove this data at any time by logging out, deleting generated files, or clearing the App's storage from your device settings.

2.3 Information processed by our service

Features that fetch online data route requests through our backend service at nu.zamansheikh.com, which acts as a secure proxy to the university's websites. To operate the service and protect it from abuse, the backend may temporarily process and log limited request metadata, such as the lookup parameters you submitted and your IP address, and may briefly cache results (for example, for around 30 minutes) to reduce load on the university servers. This data is used solely to provide and protect the service and is not used to build advertising or marketing profiles.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

• Fetch and display the results, profiles, notices and PDFs you request;
• Perform on-device calculations and generate marksheets;
• Operate, maintain, secure and improve the App and backend service (including rate limiting and preventing abuse).

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following services to provide online features:

• National University official websites (e.g. results.nu.ac.bd, ems.nu.ac.bd, www.nu.ac.bd) — the source of results, student profiles and notices.
• NU Result backend (nu.zamansheikh.com) — our proxy/caching service that fetches and formats the above data for the App.
• Cloudinary — hosts images that may appear in in-app announcements.
• Google Play Services — used to deliver in-app updates from the Play Store.

These services receive only the data necessary to perform their function (for example, the registration number needed to look up a profile). The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

5. Internet & Permissions

The App requests internet access because result checking, student profiles, notices and updates require a network connection. Offline features — the CGPA calculator and marksheet generator — continue to work without internet. The App does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, SMS, or precise location.

6. Data Retention

Information you enter is used to fulfil your immediate request and is not stored on our servers as a permanent user record. Cached results are short-lived and expire automatically. Operational logs (such as request metadata and IP address) are kept only for a limited time for security and reliability, and are then rotated out. Data saved on your device remains until you delete it.

7. Data Security

Communication between the App and our backend uses encrypted HTTPS connections. While we take reasonable measures to protect information in transit and at the service level, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Some upstream university systems are outside our control.

8. Your Choices & Control

• You can use the offline calculator and marksheet features without entering any identifying details.
• Student Login is optional; logging out removes the saved profile from your device.
• You can clear all locally stored data via your device's App settings ("Clear storage").
• You can stop using the online features at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for university students and the general public and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can address it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
